It is the responsibility of HCWA to plan and organize boat owner access to the waterfront during this event. The HCWA wants to allow boat owners as much access as possible; however, that access cannot interfere with the event.
The benefits that the HCWA are receiving from this event is considerable. These major improvements will save a couple generations of work and fundraising by community volunteers.
The board members hope that users of the HCWA property can understand the benefits that we are receiving from hosting this event and are therefore willing to put up with some inconvenience in return.
HCWA Front Berths As of August 1st
All front berths (C Docks), tender docking, and visitor dock will be allocated for the sole use of the World Championships Host Society. This also includes the front sea wall and southerly wharf face to keep a clear navigable waterway.
All boat and dinghy owners will have access to the A docks at this time. There will be extra floating dock space provided for dinghy owners on the A docks facing the mouth of the river.
HCWA Access is as follows:
Foot Access Allowed Between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Pedestrians can access the property from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when the event is open to the public. Some areas will be cordoned off for race participant use only.
No Parking- (August 1st to Sept. 9th)
Due to the number of boats and participants using the property, there will be no parking allowed for anyone on HCWA property during these dates.
Drive Through Allowed – (Aug 1st to Aug 14th)
Members can drive through the HCWA property to pick up or drop off people and/or gear any time during the day during these dates.
The HCWA boat launch may be used for small boats during this time; however, there is no parking allowed of your vehicle and trailer.
Between Aug 15th to Sept 9th – from 6 to 9 a.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
If a boat owner needs to drop off or pick up anything from the property using a vehicle, they can do so during these times.
New Marina Carts
HCWA will be proving 2 new marina carts to help transport gear up or down the hill and out to your boat. These will be kept near the office, for use during the day.
HCWA Docking for Passenger Pickup / Drop-off
HCWA Berth #14 will be allocated for the use by HCWA members to temporarily dock their boat for the loading and unloading of passengers, gear, and supplies. Please limit your docking time to 15 minutes and no longer than 30 minutes.
Off-Site Parking
We have secured the following parking spots for boat owners, while using their boats. Parking will be on a first come, first parked basis
Parking Permits are required for sites 1 and 2 and will be issued from the HCWA Office.
The sites are:
- The former Medical Clinic: Any day of the week
- St. Anthony’s Church property: Any day except on Sunday mornings
- Library Parking Lot: Only on Sunday and Monday

Boat Ramps Aug.1st to Sept.9th
There will be no public access of the boat launch ramps on HCWA property.
Anyone wishing to launch or haul their watercraft will be redirected to Bay Lookout Park where there is a public-access boat ramp.
